Escharotic Treatments

Alternative Solutions for HPV+ and Abnormal PAPs

Receiving results of an abnormal PAP can feel disempowering and scary, simply inconvenient, or sometimes even mysterious. We can break it all down for you and explain what your results mean, why your gynecologist is recommending certain further testing or treatments, and what options you have to best support you through healing and addressing your cervical health. We can help navigate you through conventional care interventions as well as entirely alternative methods and options of treatment. We are here to help you achieve improved PAP results while caring for your body in ways that feel right to you, and for you.

What are Escharotic Treatments?

Escharotic treatments are performed by applying a series of topical agents to the face of the cervix where HPV infections and cellular changes can occur. It is a process that helps to clear or slough off abnormal and/or virally-infected cells and treat the underlying cellular layers so healthy, uninfected tissue is able to proliferate for a healthy cervix and subsequent normal PAP results.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the degree of cellular change and presence or absence of HPV, treatments will range from 1-2x/week, for a series of 6-12 treatments total. We will then repeat PAP testing to determine how to proceed further, if necessary.

What else can be done to address my PAP results?

In addition to the topical escharotic treatments, there are many dietary, lifestyle, herbal, and nutraceutical supports that can and should be implemented as you receive the escharotic treatments. Sometimes, we can address abnormal PAP results solely through these measures, without needing to utilize escharotic treatments. These recommendations will be crafted specifically for you during our Naturopathic visits.
